The University of Milan has announced the opening of applications for regional scholarships for the academic year 2025-2026, offering a valuable opportunity for Italian and international students to receive substantial financial support and diverse services. These scholarships, known as “Right to Study” (Diritto allo Studio), are funded by the Lombardy government, the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), along with resources from the National Recovery and Next Generation EU Plan (NextGenerationEU).

These scholarships aim to support outstanding and deserving students by providing cash grants and free meal services, ensuring a stable and motivating study environment.

The scholarship offers a comprehensive support package for accepted students, including:

• Financial Grant: The total scholarship amount ranges from €2,114 (minimum) to €8,134 (maximum), determined based on the student’s income bracket and status (on-campus resident, off-campus resident, or daily commuter).
• Meal Services: Free meals provided from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, excluding August.
• Additional Increases:
  • Female STEM Students: Female students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields receive a 20% scholarship increase.
  • Students with Disabilities: Scholarship amounts can be increased by up to 40%.
• International Mobility Support: Additional funding up to €600 per month (for up to 10 months) for students participating in study or internship programs abroad, plus travel cost reimbursement.
• Graduation Bonus: Students who graduate within the standard duration of their studies receive an additional scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements and Admission Criteria

The scholarship is available through competitive selection for students meeting specific merit, income, and academic regularity requirements.

Eligible Applicants:

• Italian and foreign students enrolled full-time in Bachelor’s, Master’s, Single-cycle Master’s, Specialization Schools (with exceptions), and Research Doctorate programs.

Key Application Requirements:

• Academic Regularity: No interruptions in the student’s academic career.
• Economic Requirements:
  • University ISEE index must not exceed €26,516.70 for 2025
  • ISPE index must not exceed €57,645.03
• Merit Requirements (Credit Hours):
  • First-year students (Bachelor’s and Single-cycle Master’s): Must earn 35 credit hours by August 10, 2026
  • First-year students (Master’s): Must earn 20 credit hours (or 23 for limited-access programs) by August 10, 2026
  • Continuing students: Must achieve specified credit hours by August 10, 2025, as outlined in the official announcement
• Students with Disabilities: Merit requirements (credit hours) are reduced by 40%.

Excluded Categories:

• Students receiving other scholarships for the same academic year
• Part-time enrolled students
• Students repeating the academic year
• Students holding Italian degrees equivalent to or higher than their current program level
• First-level Master’s students, medical specialization students, and PhD students already receiving scholarships

Application Process and Important Deadlines

Applications must be submitted electronically.

• Application Deadline: September 30, 2025 (11:59 PM Central European Summer Time)
• ISEE Declaration Deadline: The Unified Substitute Declaration (DSU) for ISEE must be signed by September 30, 2025
• Preliminary Results Announcement: October 31, 2025
• Final Results Announcement: November 30, 2025

Scholarship Payment Method

The scholarship is paid in two installments via the student’s “Carta La Statale” card after activation as a prepaid card:
