Fully Funded Volunteering Opportunity in Sweden 2026: More Than a Vote Project (Europe Week)

The Municipality of Jönköping (Jönköpings kommun) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the European volunteering project “MORE THAN A VOTE” as part of the Europe Week 2026 activities. This opportunity is fully funded and targets passionate young people eager to make a positive difference.
Project Details (MORE THAN A VOTE)
The “More Than a Vote” project aims to promote active citizenship and youth participation in democratic life. 12 volunteers from across Europe and neighboring countries will work side by side with local volunteers in the Swedish city of Jönköping.
Volunteers will help implement activities and events during Europe Week 2026, with a focus on the importance of youth engagement in society.
What Will You Learn from This Volunteering Experience?
By participating in volunteer teams under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), volunteers will gain hands-on experience including:
- Event Management: Developing skills in marketing, social media management, logistics, and public outreach.
- Civic Awareness: Deep engagement in education around active citizenship and its benefits.
- Intercultural Communication: Improving teamwork skills in a diverse international environment, conducted in English.
Funding & Benefits — What Does the Project Provide?
This opportunity is fully covered, and accepted volunteers receive the following:
- Accommodation: Free shared hostel stay in the Huskvarna area.
- Transport: A public transit card for unlimited travel within the Jönköping–Huskvarna region.
- Food & Pocket Money: A food allowance and personal spending money.
- Travel: Reimbursement of round-trip flight costs based on travel distance and EU regulations.
- Insurance: Comprehensive health and supplementary insurance.
- Certificate: An internationally recognized Youthpass certificate upon project completion.
Eligibility Criteria — Who Can Apply?
The organization Ung Fritid is looking for 12 volunteers with the following qualities:
- Open-minded and tolerant toward different cultures and backgrounds.
- Willing to take initiative in planning and organizing local activities.
- Able to work independently as well as within international teams.
- Able to speak and understand English (a basic level is acceptable).
- Interested in topics of citizenship and democratic participation.
Eligible Countries: The opportunity is open to participants from most countries worldwide, including EU member states, Eastern Partnership countries, and South Mediterranean countries such as Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Libya, Syria, Turkey, and others.
