Mexican Government Excellence Scholarships 2025-2026

The Mexican Government, through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), has announced the launch of the “Excellence Scholarship Program for Foreign Students 2025.” This program opens its doors to outstanding international students from more than 170 countries to pursue their studies in undergraduate exchange programs, master’s degrees, doctorates, as well as post-doctoral research.

This program aims to enhance Mexico’s position as a responsible global partner and support the development of high-level human resources. The presence of foreign students, academics, and scientists in Mexico also contributes to building permanent and long-term dialogue bridges that enrich the foreign policy agenda.

Mexican Government Excellence Scholarship Details:

90 Mexican higher education institutions participate in this call, all of which have academic programs registered in the National Graduate Studies System of the National Council for Science and Technology, ensuring the quality of education provided.

Available Academic Levels:

  • Student exchange for undergraduate and master’s levels
  • Master’s degree
  • Doctoral research
  • Research stays for graduate and post-doctoral studies

Financial Coverage:

The scholarship covers a range of essential expenses for students, including:

  • Monthly stipend: Varies according to academic degree
  • Registration and tuition fees
  • Medical insurance through the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS)
  • Visa issuance costs
  • International flight ticket upon successful completion of the academic program
  • Local transportation from Mexico City to the host city at the beginning of the program and return at the end

Important Dates:

  • Application period: Starts from July 21, 2025, and continues until September 12, 2025
  • Results announcement: Results will be published starting October 8, 2025

Application Requirements and Procedures:

Applicants must meet a set of basic requirements, including proof of a cumulative GPA of no less than 85/100 (or equivalent).

The application process is conducted exclusively online through the “Academic Cooperation Management System” (SIGCA). It is essential that applications are registered and all required documents are submitted in Spanish.
