ItalYou Scholarship for Study in Italy 2026–2027: Eligibility and Participating Countries
Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced the continuation of the ITALYOU – Italy in Your Future programme for the 2026–2027 academic year. The programme offers university scholarships to young people from selected African countries to study Italian language and teaching methods at the University for Foreigners of Perugia.

What is the ItalYou programme?
The ItalYou programme aims to strengthen cultural ties with young people in Africa and prepare graduates to gain the qualifications needed to teach Italian in their home countries after completing their studies. It is run in partnership with Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University for Foreigners of Perugia.
The scholarships support enrolment in the master’s degree programme ItAS – Italian for the Teaching of Italian to Foreigners, offered by the University for Foreigners of Perugia.
Scholarship value and duration
For the programme’s fourth edition, covering the 2026–2027 academic year, 70 new scholarships have been announced. Each scholarship is worth €8,000 per year, paid in 12 monthly instalments. Payments are scheduled to begin on 1 October 2026.

How are applicants selected?

Can the scholarship be renewed?
Some recipients of scholarships from the third edition may be eligible for renewal for the 2026–2027 academic year. The official website sets a minimum academic requirement: passing examinations worth at least 40 university credits (CFU). It states that 64 students from the previous edition may receive a renewal if they meet this requirement.
